Record Mirror, 8 Sept 1973, p. 16
by Danny Wilson

10 C.C. played their first ever live gig, at the Palace Lido, here in Douglas, I.O.M., on Sunday.

With brand new equipment, they were augmented by a second drummer, who also played moog. They performed a set which consisted mainly of 10 C.C. album tracks, and of course, hits: Donna, Rubber Bullets, and Dean And I.

Although very nervous, and worried about crowd reaction, which is something unusual for a name group, their opening number lasted for about 12 minutes, and really got the 2,000 strong audience interested in what was to come.

After Donna, in which the vocals sounded a bit strained, two album tracks left the crowd a bit disinterested, and the group were in danger of losing the audience for a while.

Only until Rubber Bullets, however. It was just like listening to the record. From then on they could do nothing wrong. They had the fans stamping their feet, clapping their hands, and even standing on one another's shoulders.

The group, and fans alike, had a ball. At one stage, Lol Creme got too close to some frantic female fans, and almost went head over heels down the five feet drop from stage to floor. Only the timely intervention of three security men, saved him from being cut off in his prime!

When Kevin Godley came off the drums to end the set, with an unusually slow number, called Mama, the place was still screaming for more. It was not to be, however, 10 C.C. had finished their first live gig. If any faults can be found, they are only in a P.A. which was a little too quiet, and an inexperienced mixer operator, things which will not take long to sort out.
